About Us

Welcome to Al-Huda Academy

Principal's Message

Dear Parent/Guardian

Assalaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

The ‘Al-Huda Academy’ project was started due to an ever increasing demand for better educational standards both in Islamic and state education for Muslims within Europe. There was and still is a growing need to raise the expectations of our community living in the West. The aim of Al-Huda Academy is to provide learning and training opportunities for students over the ages of 11 within an Islamic environment.

In shaa Allah, our aim is to make Al-Huda Academy a centre of excellence for learning in Europe. We want to ensure that our future generation is Islamically educated whilst having the opportunity to study other subjects. Not only do we want to develop the Islamic personality in our students so that they will be able to apply the Qur’an and Sunnah in their daily lives, but also work for the cause of Deen in Europe.

In shaa Allah, with the support of the Muslim Ummah in Europe, we aim to develop upon the initiatives already made. We pray to Allah (swt) that we are successful in this Islamic cause and that He guides us in every step.  Ameen.

What is Al-Huda Academy ?

Al-Huda Academy is a new Masjid / Educational Institute and is based in Darnall, Sheffield. The Academy was founded by Madni Trust. We have successfully completed our 2nd year running as a full time secondary school for boys. The Masjid at the academy is open to the public where 5 daily prayers, Friday prayer (jumma) and Eid prayers are being offered.

A strong Muslim ethos will give the Academy its uniqueness integrating shorter holidays and longer school days to maximise opportunities for pupil achievement and success. At the centre of our academy is a community of pupils, able to enjoy learning in a caring Islamic environment which promotes a culture of high expectations and outstanding performance.

One of Al-Huda Academy’s strong characters will be the extended services program in which pupils will learn independence, self-control, social skills and community conscientiousness. These skills are vital if our pupils are to become self-regulating teenagers and adults.

Pupil attainment, achievement and Islamic personality is at the heart of our vision. We focus on outstanding teaching to promote outstanding learning coupled with a rigid assessment and monitoring program to identify progress levels of all pupils. This approach will help to put into place individual educational development programs for each and every pupil.

One of Al-Huda Academy’s distinct features is the offering of an Islamic Studies program, which will include Quran reading with pronunciations (Tajweed), translation of the Quran (Tafseer) and Quran memorisation (Hifz). We will also teach Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh), biography (Seerah) of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW), History of Islam, the Oneness of God (Tauheed) and Islamic Beliefs (Aqeedah). Daily prayers and weekly religious assemblies will also take place.

The Building

The Former Kettlebridge School is a truly magnificent building which was closed in July 1994 and was used as a community centre for a while but was badly damaged in a fire in 1997. Its unique nouveau art features makes this building the only one still standing today in the Sheffield area. Madni Trust acquired the site in February 2003 and brought it back to its former glory.

The location for the Academy is ideally located in the heart of the community. Both the buildings and surrounding grounds are well suited for the Academy’s purposes. The site benefits from privacy within grounds, good transport links and secure surroundings.
