Assessment

Teachers have worked collaboratively to define assessment criteria that reflect the key concepts and skills taught within the new national curriculum in both Key Stages 3 and 4. Our assessment framework is based on the new GCSE grades 9-1: it will enable us to track and monitor pupils’ progress consistently from Years 7 to 11.  We will continue to challenge all pupils to achieve more than they first think is possible and provide support to ensure they are all capable of securing positive outcomes in the new terminal examinations in Year 11 from 2018.

We are ambitious for our pupils. Whilst the general expectation of grade distribution is outlined in this image, there is no ceiling on achievement and for exceptional performance grades outside the indicative spread of grades will be awarded.
